I hope you are well.
Today I would like to talk about a habit that I think is good to develop to ensure the pH of our skin is in balance, to keep the skin moisturize and to calm it down no matter where we are. Be it out at the beach or during our long haul flight. I myself started to do more of it back in 2016, but still I need to up my game on this practise.
If you have a job which requires you to stay indoor and in an air-conditioned room, or frequent change in temperature due to frequent in and out from the office; it is always beneficial to keep a facial spray in the office or in your handbag. A small one, so that it is easy to be carry around.
I have 3 facial sprays which I have used before but remembered only 2 of them as they are more of a big brands. The other one was gifted from a Korean pal, a product made in Korea.
Nonetheless today I will be writing on this one particular brand which has had a positive effect on my skin and is the most effective product I have used thus far embarking on my short journey with the facial spray.
It is a brand from Japan, the prominent SK-II.
SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Essence

Texture: This lightweight miracle essence spray is quickly absorbed into the skin in fine particles, even over makeup.
How To Use: Spray onto skin from a distance of about 20 cm as desired, with eyes and mouth closed. Can be used over makeup.
Climate Which I use It: Tropical
The first one I used and noticed my face does gets radiant over time and always stay in good condition is the SK-II’s Mid-Day Miracle Essence. As Changi airport is known to be a good place for beauty products buy and my previous job involved some amount of travelings, I will always stock up my beauty products from there, and satisfied with the price point as well compared to purchase them from my home country; which is going to be more expensive.
As the price is on the higher side, I will need to research more before I have it on my wish list. I did have the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence already and would like to slowly add in more of other products of SK-II for a try. Hence, when I am on a lookout for a facial spray, I went for SK-II without much research on other brands as my experience with the first product I bought from them was okay and due to time constraint to do some research on face spray products, I went for what I already know.
We all know SK-II’s signature ingredient is the Pitera™ and I have watched few beauty gurus claimed to benefit from this product.
Pitera™ is the special ingredient discovered by SK-II scientists over 350 kinds of yeast that held the secret to a crystal clear skin. It was a happenstance and chance upon discovery. During a simple sake brewery visit, SK-II scientists noticed the soft and youthful hands of aged sake brewers. Eventhough the aged sake brewers have a wrinkled faces, it was astounding that their hands remained soft and youthful. There must be something worth finding with the fermentation liquid that the brewers’ hands were in constant contact with during the sake fermentation process, looking at the obvious contrast of their skins and hands conditions.
After some time, the secret ingredient is finally revealed to the world and is known as Pitera™. This very discovery is not final, but denotes another new journey that was about to begin – a beauty revolution to come.
Pitera™ promises a crystal clear skin that is yours to keep. The scientists of SK-II believe that a continuous use of SK-II can change the fate of someone’s skin. A study made on 2 Akita women after using SK-II for over a year, found that their skin condition was reversed by 9-10 years. The study takes place in Akita and is called The Akita Study. Akita is a quiet town in Japan and is known to be the place where the most beautiful complexions women of Japan hailing from. The geographical setting of low UV level and high humidity conditioned this town as the perfect environment for the skin.
The team picked 100 women and analysed their facial skin conditions for over 10 years and found that it is not time which dictate a perfect skin. Instead, the team came out with a standard of true measurement in achieving a crystal clear skin that would stand the test of time. A crystal clear skin will happen, is due to a result of the fine balance of smoothness, clearness, radiance and firmness.
I am glad it was a worthy purchase. Despite many dislike on the smell of Pitera™, I actually do quite like it. I don’t find the smell repelling, but rather thinking the Pitera™ is loaded with great stuffs good for my skin. Indeed Pitera™ is loaded with vitamins, amino acids, minerals and organic acids that work together to allow the skin’s natural surface rejuvenation process to function at its prime.
What Pitera™ does is to lock hydration within our skin, and the Mid-Day Miracle Essence features a specially-designed formula to deliver ingredients in fine mist form to have better penetration through makeup or onto our skin pores. The fine mist particles is so small it is one-quarter the size of our visible skin pores.
Another thing I like about this product is that my skin does feel moisturize for a longer time period. I like the calming effect it gives to my skin. The reason is that the product itself is not water-based, and the essence’s unique MoistureLock Complex is able to give a lasting moisturization for up to 4 hours which is ideal especially if you are up in the air for a longer time period. This very reason is also what set SK-II’s Mid-Day Essence Spray apart from other water-based sprays that do the work of instantly hydrate our skin but eventually dry and dehydrate our skin. It might be a bit pricey as compared to the water-based sprays products, nonetheless it is worth it if your aim is to keep your skin hydrated, moisturize and healthy that has the ability to reverse your skin age.
In short, this is what SK-II’s Mid-Day Miracle Essence Spray does to our skin.
The latest project by SK-II is the Bare Skin Project, a challenge for women across the world who believe that they must wear makeup to feel beautiful and confident, to take on this challenge to reveal their bare skin.
Here are the words from people who have partake in this project.
“It’s still unconventional to see female celebrities photographed bare skin and through the #BareSkinProject, we hope to provide a different point of view,“ said Sandeep Seth, CEO, Global SK-II. “We are proud to partner with six brave personalities who share the same goal. We hope their authentic journeys with Facial Treatment Essence will inspire women all over the world to embrace their natural bare skin beauty.“
The celebrities rallied together in a resounding show of support for the movement. “It was so refreshing to hear about a campaign that aims to embrace women’s natural beauty and spark a movement of authenticity and confidence,” said American actress Chloe Moretz. “I knew that this was a perfect fit for me and what I represent.”
I myself have went through a phase where going out without putting on my eye liners, BB cream or mascara feeling like more of an attachment rather than for the purpose of enhancing my feature. Then I know, I need to do something about it because not only that it is important to allow my skin to breathe, makeup are loaded with chemicals ingredients, and most importantly I have never have such kind of vanity it is crucial to not making it permanent in my life.
Make up is okay, so does giving your skin a chance to breathe.
